I have always had a passion for education and a love of learning. Growing up, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I attended California State University, Bakersfield where I received my Bachelors in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Mathematics and Music. Soon after, I received my teaching credential in Mathematics and my Masters in Education from University of Phoenix. I then taught and tutored Math in the public school system to students of all levels, from first grade to seniors in high school. I now enjoy the privilege of being an at home educator where I homeschool my own three children and offer support to homeschooling families. I am excited to be working as an Education Specialist with Summit Academy!

Teaching and working with kids has been my passion since I was a little girl. I always knew it was what I wanted to do. I also really love working with and helping families. At Summit Academy, I get the best of both worlds. I am able to not only
work with kids, but with parents as well. I love being a partner with parents in the education of their children. Homeschooling can be challenging, but also extremely rewarding. It’s my job to help make it easier.

I have twenty-two years of teaching experience. Most of that experience has been in an elementary school classroom, but I also include home-schooling my own children as part of that experience as well. I am mom to 3 daughters – ages 9, 15, 17 and they have taught me more than I could ever teach them.

Cheyenne is the mother of four great homeschooled kids and knows what it's like to be a homeschooling parent. She studied Sociology and Asian Studies for her undergraduate degree, and has a Masters degree in Education Curriculum and Instruction. She is a Teach For America alumnus and taught junior high school in intercity Phoenix. She is very familiar with English Language Learners, and has both personal and professional experience with IEP's. Cheyenne has been involved in teaching and education for 13 years. She is excited to be part of Summit Academy, and looks forward to helping you teach your child, as well as help him/her thrive and excel in education!

I have been passionately involved as a professional educator for over 25 years, and remain committed to parents and students seeking the highest quality education curriculum and services.
I began my teaching career in 1993 as a Language Arts Teacher with the Los Angeles Unified School District. When my first son was born in 2000, I retired from teaching to be a stay-at-home mom. In 2007 I returned to teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) to adults in the evenings, and then began working with the Ventura Unified School District's home school program in 2008.
I received my Bachelor's Degree in Communication Studies from California State University, Northridge in 1988, and later received my Professional Clear Teaching Credential in English from California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks.

I love teaching and really enjoy supporting, encouraging and reassuring parents as they teach their children. Homeschooling can be a daunting task and, thankfully, we don't have to do it alone. Summit Academy offers excellent support, help and resources for the journey.

(Also, I have a BA, an MA and seventeen years of teaching public school and eleven years teaching and working with home school families.)

I truly enjoy working with homeschool families. I have been homeschooling my four children for the last 6 years (since 2010) and I truly understand all of the joys, challenges, choices, and opportunities that homeschooling families experience. I am excited to be working with Summit to support and encourage families on their homeschooling journey.

Prior to having children, I taught at an elementary school for 7 years. During that time I taught third grade, fourth grade, and taught in an early reading intervention program.

I love being a public school teacher and I have over 13 years of teaching experience at both the elementary and middle school levels. I also have the privilege to homeschool my own children. I am the kind of teacher that is most likely to use textbooks to weigh down a family-built hovercraft for improved stability or to prop up student-made solar ovens to get the best angle for heat absorption. In my spare time I tutor children with special needs, do event planning for a local homeschool group, attend educational webinars and conferences, and help establish edible gardens around the community.
